Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

What this service is

Protein Tracker is a personal hobby project that lets you log food products, define serving sizes, and track your daily protein intake. It includes an optional product search powered by the Open Food Facts open database, and a data export feature that lets you download your data at any time. The application was built as a learning exercise and is provided free of charge, with no warranty of any kind.

Not medical advice

Nothing in this application constitutes medical or nutritional advice. Protein values are entered manually by users and may be inaccurate. Do not make health or dietary decisions based solely on the data in this app. Consult a qualified professional for medical or nutritional guidance.

Age requirement

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account and use this service.

Third-party services

The product search and barcode scanner send your search terms or scanned barcodes to the Open Food Facts API to retrieve nutritional information. The scanner uses your device's camera; scanning happens in your browser and no image is uploaded; only the decoded barcode is sent. These are external services we do not control. By using product search or the scanner, you acknowledge that this data will be transmitted to Open Food Facts.

Transactional emails are sent through Resend, our email provider, which receives your email address and message contents for delivery. This covers account verification and password-reset emails, feedback you submit (sent to us with your address so we can reply), and a short notification to the operator when a new account is verified. All of the app's own code is served from our own server; no third-party content delivery networks are used.
